Delivery and couriers
Addresses in the usual sense often don't exist: a street with no numbers, three turns, and "the green gate opposite the warung". So the courier calls, and the call isn't a formality — it's how they find you.
What helps isn't the address but the landmark. "Depan warung" — opposite the warung, "sebelah" — next to, "gerbang hijau" — green gate. One of those saves ten minutes of circling the gang.
"Saya sudah sampai" — I'm here, and "sudah depan" — already outside. Couriers write both to you, so recognising them beats saying them.
On cash: "bayar di tempat" means paying on delivery, and the courier needs the exact amount. He almost certainly has no change.
